Welcome to the descendants of William Hannington and Mary Darby who settled at Shediac Cape, New Brunswick, CANADA.
William Hannington was born in 1759 to William Hannington & Ruth Allison in England. He acquired land* in New Brunswick, Canada, in 1784 - arriving at Halifax, Nova Scotia, in the winter of 1785. William and an Indian guide made the 200 mile trek by foot from Halifax to present day Shediac Cape.
Mary Darby was born in 1774 to Benjamin Darby & Harriet ? in Newburg, New York USA. The Darby family arrived in Saint John, New Brunswick with thousands of Loyalists fleeing the American colonies in 1783. Mary's mother died at sea enroute to Canada. Benjamin Darby, his 2nd wife, and children finally settled at St. Eleanor's, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

NOTES: St. Martins-in-the-Woods Chuch, Shediac Cape NB Canada - land and lumber were donated by William Hannington for the construction of the church which was started in 1821 and completed in 1823. [Source: HANINGTON 2001-02 by Lilian (Hanington) Hamilton - page 2]. William Hannington and Mary Darby are buried in the adjoining cemetery.
